No. 2 Orediggers To Face Lopers In RMAC Shootout Semifinals

GOLDEN – The second-ranked Colorado School of Mines men's basketball team will continue its quest for the school's first conference tournament championship on Friday when they face fourth-seeded Nebraska-Kearney in the semifinal round of the RMAC Shootout at the State Fair Events Center in Pueblo.

The Orediggers (25-2) are currently riding a 13-game winning streak and have not lost since falling by a 70-59 final to Adams State on Jan. 13 in Alamosa. Mines is also undefeated at home this season (16-0) and hasn't lost at Lockridge Arena since falling to Fort Lewis by an 86-83 final on Jan. 15, 2011 – a streak of 21 games.

CSM's 25 victories also ties a school record for overall wins in a season that was set by last year's NCAA Tournament team that finished 25-6 overall. CSM posted 20 conference victories this year (20-2) which set new school record for conference wins in a season and is the most in the 102-year history of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.

The Orediggers' opponent on Friday is one of two teams to capture a victory over top-seeded Mines this season. The Lopers handed CSM its first defeat of the season – a 66-57 victory on Dec. 17 in Kearney, Neb.

CSM is 10-31 all-time against the Lopers, but the Orediggers have collected wins in three out of the last four matchups and seven out of the last 10.

All Colorado School of Mines students that wish to attend the game will receive free admission with a valid BlasterCard. Should Mines advance to Saturday's championship game, CSM students will receive free admission for that game as well with a valid CSM student ID.
