Green Named Third Team All-American By Division II Bulletin

GOLDEN – Colorado School of Mines junior Brett Green added more postseason hardware to his trophy case when he was named a Third Team All-American by the Division II Bulletin on Wednesday morning.

Green adds the honor to a list from this season that already includes First Team All-American honors from the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) as well as a Second Team All-American honor from the Basketball Times. The 2011-12 RMAC/Baden Player of the Year, Green was also named NABC First Team All-District, First Team Daktronics All-Region and unanimous First Team All-RMAC.

The Peyton native also landed spots on the RMAC All-Tournament Team and Central Region All-Tournament team this season after leading the Orediggers to a 29-3 overall record and the school's first berth in the NCAA Division II Central Region Championship game. The team also won its second-straight RMAC regular season championship, its first-ever RMAC Shootout title and secured its first No. 1 national ranking.

Green averaged 15.5 points, 3.3 rebounds and shot 48 percent from the field, 43 percent from 3-point land and 87 percent from the foul line – the latter of the three being the 25th-best number in the country.

He scored 10 or more points in 29 of 32 ballgames, including seven games with 20 or more points. He went over 1,000 career points in CSM's 77-57 win over Fort Lewis on Feb. 17, and he was twice named RMAC Offensive Player of the Week (11/28, 1/30).
