#2 Midwestern State defeats #3 CSM, 3-1, in second round of NCAA Tournament

WICHITA FALLS, Texas – The third-ranked Colorado School of Mines men's soccer team fell to #2 Midwestern State by a score of 3-1 in the second round of the NCAA Tournament on Sunday afternoon.

Midwestern State got on the board first scoring in the sixth minute on a goal by Dean Lovegrove from 18 yards out. MSU out-shot Mines 11-3 in the first half and took a 1-0 lead into halftime.

MSU struck quickly in the second half in the 48th minute as Casey Hibbs found Bryce Taylor for his seventh goal of the season to give Midwestern State a 2-0 lead.

CSM scored its lone goal of the match in the 51st minute as Baski Baker scored his 13th goal of the season. However, Mines was unable to find an equalizer a Paulo Teixeira added MSU's third goal of the match in the 88th minute.

Mines goalkeeper Manville Strand made five saves in the match.

The third-ranked Orediggers finish the 2010 season with an overall record of 17-2-2. Mines earned its first NCAA Tournament win in program history against Regis on Thursday and won both the RMAC regular-season and tournament titles.
