#1 Mines defeats UC-Colorado Springs, 4-0

GOLDEN, Colo. – The #1-ranked Colorado School of Mines soccer team defeated UC-Colorado Springs on Friday afternoon in RMAC men's soccer action by a score of 4-0 at the CSM Soccer Stadium.

CSM scored in just the fifth minute of the match. A ball squirted behind the UCCS defense to the feet of Tesho Akindele who laid the ball off to Baski Baker for his eighth goal of the season. The assist was Akindele's fourth of the year.

Mines made the score 2-0 in the ninth minute of the match. After a corner kick, Chike Sullivan weaved his way through the UCCS defense crossing the ball into the box. Akindele kicked the ball in from just a few feet in front of the goal. Sullivan earned his eighth assist of the season on the goal.

Akindele would score again this time in the 24th minute as he received a pass at midfield taking on multiple defenders for the goal.

In the 31st minute, Akindele collected his second hat trick in the last two games. Akindele collected the ball on a throw in turned from the left side of the box and blasted a shot far post for his12th goal of the season. Alex Gunberg tallied the assist his sixth of the season.

The #1-ranked Orediggers (12-0-1, 9-0-1 RMAC) host Adams State on Sunday, Oct. 17th at the CSM Soccer Stadium at 2:30 pm.
