Unkrich repeats as RMAC Pitcher of the Year; Vessey, Goletz and Lustgraaf grab honors

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The Colorado School of Mines softball team placed a total of four players on All-RMAC teams as announced today by the conference office. Kelly Unkrich was named Pitcher of the Year for a second-straight season while also earning First Team honors. Kamee Vessey was named to the Second Team while both Ashley Goletz and Sarah Lustgraaf earned Third Team honors.

Unkrich, a junior right-handed pitcher from Highlands Ranch, Colo. (Mountain Vista H.S.), leads the conference with a 2.95 ERA and ranks second in the RMAC with 16 wins. Unkrich, who has pitched 187-1/3 innings, has struck out 149 batters (second in the RMAC) while surrendering just 39 walks. She also has three saves, two shutouts and 23 complete games.

A junior outfielder from Highlands Ranch, Colo. (University of South Alabama), Vessey is currently batting .350 with a team-best 52 runs scored, ranking her fourth in the RMAC. She has started all 51 games and ranks second in the league and 17th in Division II with 15 home runs. Vessey also ranks third with 33 walks and eighth with 114 total bases among players in the conference. She has collected 55 hits, 12 doubles, one triple and tallied 40 RBI while stealing five bases, posting a .726 slugging percentage and a .472 on-base percentage. Vessey currently leads the team with 14 multiple-RBI games and 18 multiple-hit games.

Goletz, a junior right-handed pitcher from Grand Junction, Colo. (Central H.S.), posted a record of 13-7 and a 5.07 ERA in her first season as a starter. She tossed two shutouts and 15 complete games in 26 appearances and 152 innings of work. Goletz has fanned 116 batters which ranks her fifth in the RMAC.

Lustgraaf (Missoula, Mont. / Big Sky H.S.), a senior first baseman, is currently batting .343 with 10 home runs and a team-leading 48 RBI (ninth in the RMAC). She has started every game at first base and has hit four triples (sixth in the RMAC) and six doubles. Lustgraaf has collected 57 hits, scored 30 runs, tallied 101 total bases with 22 walks, a .608 slugging percentage and a .429 on-base percentage. This season, Lustgraaf has 17 multiple-hit games and 12 multiple-RBI games.

The Orediggers (29-22, 26-14 RMAC) claimed their second-consecutive RMAC regular-season title and earned the right to host the 2012 RMAC Tournament. Mines will play #8 seed Colorado Mesa on Thursday, April 26, at the CSM Softball at 1:00 pm.
