GOLDEN, Colo. - Colorado School of Mines softball player Sarah Lustgraaf was named Capital One Academic All-District as announced today by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
To be eligible, student-athletes must have completed two consecutive semesters at their current school prior to the 2012 season and have a minimum grade point average of 3.30. Lustgraaf advances to the ballot for the Capital One Academic All-America squads which will be announced later this month.
Lustgraaf, a senior first baseman from Missoula, Mont. (Big Sky H.S.), has a 3.77 cumulative grade-point average and is studying Chemical engineering at Mines. She is a two-time first team Academic All-RMAC selection and was named third team All-RMAC this season.
In 2012, Lustgraaf appeared and started in all 53 games for the Orediggers at first base. She hit .335 with 58 hits, 10 home runs, six doubles and four triples while driving in a team-leading 48 runs. Lustgraaf scored 30 runs, collected 102 total bases, recored a .419 on-base percentage, a .590 slugging percentage and drew 22 walks.
The Orediggers claimed their second-straight RMAC regular-season championship in 2012 posting a record of 29-24 overall and 26-14 in conference play.
